Background

2nd Road are a strategic innovation consultancy who are at the forefront of creating future-ready organisations. Downsizing to an office space of half the size was a bold move. Making effective use of space through articulate design and an Activity Based Working (ABW) environment has allowed 2nd Road to dramatically reduce their operational expenses. As a strategic company it was imperative that the environment not only fosters collaborative discussion and sharing of ideas but provides an overall inviting and stimulating atmosphere.

 

Solution

Collaborating with interior design firm Mashup, the office was designed to support collectivism and an agile workspace whilst optimising city views. Providing room for collaboration was achieved through a variety of large and small think labs featuring curved whiteboard lined walls throughout, operable walls and graphic printed bi-fold doors.

One stand out area is the ‘white room’, which is intended to provide a clear-thinking space for creativity to flow freely without distraction.  Other key features include starfire crystal glass wall on entrance, ceiling treatments, eco panels blades along the ceiling creating a directional effect, bi-fold doors, feature lighting throughout, variety of floor finishes such as timber, vinyl and carpet, stylish black lockers and beautiful furniture pieces throughout. The back office area, whilst a small open plan, is itself adaptable and inviting with move around workstations.

Amicus Furniture played a central role in the office fitout, contributing with 10% of the overall budget designated to invigorating the spaces with colour and comfort. High-end finishes and eye-catching furniture pieces provide an appealing and engaging atmosphere.

Amicus' focus on inspiring people and innovating workspaces is truly reflected in 2nd Road’s innovative and high-end 600 sqm office fitout. The overall look and feel is forward thinking and 2nd Road did not shy away from pushing the boundaries of design. Amicus are proud of the outcome of this project. During the delivery Amicus offered and implemented effective solutions to some challenging design aspects. One challenge being the floor plan layout. Given that some walls are on angles with curves this required skill and knowledge. To make effective use of this space, a curved bookshelf was constructed along the main entrance.
