Location: George Street, Sydney
Size: 2,200 sqm
Completed: 2018

Background

With the Melbourne office fit out nearing completion and company-wide rebrand in full swing, Arq Group Sydney were eager to move into their new office space. Critical aspects of the design brief were to reduce the silo effect and facilitate cross-team collaboration. Amicus were engaged to Project Manage and Champion the move from their offices in Pyrmont to the newly redeveloped 680 George.

Our mission was to seamlessly move approx. 800 staff in two states to their exciting new offices, expertly fitted out by Amicus with design partner Hot Black. The new office spaces would be strongly aligned with their new brand, would foster collaboration and be a strong anchor for talent acquisition.

Solution

To launch the move process we identified, shortlisted and selected move contractors to perform each relocation seamlessly. Congruent with our ‘green focus’, we provided advice on the latest Waste Management recycling systems for their new offices as well as plant hire and catering providers. To ensure fluidity of the move, the team were guided through their new offices the week before to acclimatise to the new locations to ensure they were able to hit the ground running. As trusted advisors, we were present to steer the team on Day 1, providing training on operating new task chairs and desks and a demonstration of new kitchen facilities.

From a design perspective, there are hallmark features interspersed throughout the fitout including ‘penthouse suite’ collaboration zones, an old-school pinball machine located in the social hub, an eye-catching iconic green moss Arq Group sign and pegboard wall greeting clients at reception. There is a greater sense of company identity alongside more employee facilities including kitchen and social areas on both levels, private work zones, an upgrade to the IT help desk and hydration stations to ensure all employees are catered for.

Together we have created this workspace transformation - Amicus were an integral partner. Thanks you for helping us unleash our possibilities - Amy Rixon - Chief Brand, People & Culture Officer, Arq Group.

Benefit

We were there throughout the transition period, providing internal communication to keep the staff updated and excited about the change. We worked closely with Arq’s in-house change managers to report on the move logistics and what to expect. To achieve that ‘Christmas morning moment’ we co-hosted housewarming parties in Sydney and Melbourne. Arq Group were pleased with open collaborative spaces, eclectic finishes and colours, coupled with more sights and views of the Sydney cityscape.

We were an integral partner assisting Arq Group to transform their workplace, unleashing and capitalising on possibilities. Our take-home philosophy to the team is to fully embrace the changes, use the space as a tool to perform your best work and bring information to life. Simon Coles, Amicus COO captured it perfectly as he mentioned in his welcome address “We don’t just build things. We aren’t exclusively about the bricks and mortar. We are extremely passionate about you. It’s about the people”
