Background

DHL is part of the world’s leading postal and logistics company Deutsche Post DHL Group. With a workforce exceeding 340,000 employees, they provide solutions for an almost infinite number of logistics needs. DHL met with the Amicus office fitout team and in house designer regarding their upcoming office fitout requirements. Amicus was one of 5 companies invited to tender based on a design and construct approach. Through the tender process Amicus was engaged to deliver DHL’s new 1200 sqm fitout in the Brisbane Transit Centre on Roma Street, on the basis of the design concept put forward and the confidence they had in the Amicus delivery team to deliver their project on time and on budget.

The DHL office fitout was budget driven to work in with the landlord incentive, Amicus solved this client problem by working closely with the multiple stake holders across 2 states to meet these requirements and exceeded the client’s expectations in doing so by what they wanted VS what they got within the fitout.

Solution

Amicus delivered an office environment that provided a workspace for up to 60 staff, encompassing a specialised training area for up to 30 staff with the flexibility to open up this space to the adjoining staff hub when hosting larger DHL company events. A relaxed and friendly aesthetic was achieved through the use of warm timber tones and elements suggestive of nature such as grass and vines. The DHL brand was injected into the space by using red and yellow tones as punchy accent colours, and with the inclusion of full wall graphics which reinforce DHL, what they do and who they sponsor in their business. Amicus designed the new office fitout with the staff and the DHL company values in mind, including a breakout room with table tennis, company branded collaboration booths, sit to stand desks, a uniform room, purpose built CIS Training Facility and a yoga room with hanging chairs for time out and relaxation for the call centre team.

With the works for the new DHL office fitout only a floor away from where they were housed, DHL were encouraged to be involved in the project throughout. Weekly PCG’s were held through to completion, this minimised disruption to the work tight timeframes and had Amicus deliver within the 6-month timeframe including a Christmas break.

Management noticed a change in some team members’ personal appearance as it seemed they were taking more pride in their day to day work dress. When asked about it they responded ‘We have to keep up with the new office - Meryl Pearse - Account Manager, Amicus.

Benefit

Amicus were not the only ones proud of this fitout. DHL commented upon moving in that they loved their new fitout and even had their next door neighbour knock on the door and ask if they can work from the new office or join the organisation.
