Background

Recent building changes at The Auckland Airport gave Qantas and subsidiary airline Jetconnect, the opportunity to relocate and update a fitout and training facility that was due for a refresh. The brief was to create a National Training Facility with a work environment that had the longevity to last the 10-year lease and would modernise the way the business ran its operations.

Solution

The new Qantas and Jetconnect workspace hosts multiple training rooms, with seating for hundreds of staff required to take regular aviation safety training. Working with Amicus design partner Marchese & Partners, the workspace was designed to reflect the fresh Qantas brand. During an era of new destinations, new technology and a new standard of service, it was important to enhance these themes through modern colours, open ceilings, feature lighting and glass to allow for more natural light. Specialised environments were required to accommodate training room acoustics, AV equipment and large AV and flight training equipment. A room for a flight simulator required specialised air-conditioning and power to accommodate the sophisticated machinery

Benefit

Located in an area boasting New Zealand’s most well-connected hub, Qantas sits in close proximity to Auckland Airport, offering their team high-quality accommodation and outstanding amenities. As if the interior aesthetic did no support the brand enough, having a backdrop of Auckland’s runway in view and the Qantas terminal on the horizon is a feature in itself.
