Case Study

Ravenswood School

Gordon, Sydney
500 sqm

Background

Ravenswood School for Girls is a Uniting Church, Kindergarten to Year 12 Day and Boarding school which aims to equip and inspire girls to participate in and contribute to our evolving global society. We provided extensive design consultation over a period of 3 months, assisting in the development of bespoke laboratory furniture.

Solution

All benches, frames and joinery were custom made by Australian companies to suit architectural requirements. We value engineered elements of the project to fit in with the clients budget, which included sourcing Laminex chemical grade compact laminate as a more-than-suitable alternative to a superior and more expensive product. This laminate was also for splashbacks and skirting.

Unique to this project was the use of contrasting colours in the laboratory furniture design. Black frames and joinery are topped with white laminate edged with black trim. The laboratories are brought to life with vibrant orange feature walls and chairs.

Benefit

The outcome was the fitout of 7 laboratories, a microscope room and a preparation room within Ravenswood’s SciTech Centre. We co-ordinated with the designer and builder driving the project to schedule and acted as the central conduit to achieve an aesthetically pleasing and functional learning environment.

Bespoke furniture included; bench joinery, above bench joinery, chemical grade benchtops, utility cupboards, trolleys, stainless steel benchtops and sinks. All joinery was custom made to suit the clients’ requirements.

The team at Amicus are enthusiastic about “new age” laboratories - adding colour and vibrancy to create a fun and exciting learning experience.
