Case Study

Zip Co.

Spring Street, Sydney
2,500 sqm

Background

With a lease expiry imminent and a team outgrowing their space, Zip Co. had no time to spare before starting their workspace strategy and fitout journey. It was established that the objective of the move would be to help strengthen their position as leaders in the FinTech space while providing an environment to support growth and a workspace to attract and retain talent. It was important from a cultural, functional and aesthetic point of view to ensure the entrepreneurial spirit of the organisation was captured and maintained during this journey.

Initially, our Strategy team were deployed to undertake a two-week Direction Setting exercise focusing on aspirational elements of culture. Following the Culture Audit, we chose design partner, The Bold Collective, who designed a vibrant, youthful and fun environment. Operating within a tight timeframe and to a strict budget, we ensured their brief was executed.

Solution

The collaborative nature of Zip Co. was captured through bold and eclectic reception areas and shared zones. That 'wow' moment upon entering the space from Level 14 is achieved through a caged sculptural staircase and an original hand-painted graffiti artwork. Green spaces flow throughout, dispersed with bright quirky murals and message walls. The hanging chairs in the collaboration zone have been a big hit, frequently serving as an informal meeting space. The ‘bleacher' style seating in the town hall area is a fun alternative space to gather socially and foster cross-functional team collaboration.

Zip Co. has continued to grow since our handover of levels 13 and 14 back in early 2018. We joined forces once again in late 2019 on their acquisition of level 10. The original project team was deployed to create a space that maintained a similar look and feel as their other floors, capturing the fun, quirky theme with multiple cameos from brand icon, Nicholas Cage. Level 10 is fitted with collaborative zones, writeable surfaces, games rooms, large meeting rooms and lounges to impress and facilitate work for the younger demographic.

Benefit

Undergoing a brand revitalisation, Zip Co. now have a space they are extremely proud of. Their transition from a disjointed impractical space to a cohesive vibrant work environment has been achieved with employees excited and energised to bring clients in. Zip Co. was an integral partner with both directors heavily involved in the design phase to infuse their passion and creative vision into the workspace.

A showcase of how contemporary workspaces are continuing to evolve.
