Case Study

Bio-Rad

South Granville, New South Wales
3,780 sqm

Background

Bio-Rad was looking for a partner to help with the relocation, design and construction of their Australian headquarters to accommodate their distribution service centre, head office and sales team. For the design and construction of the air-conditioned warehouse, cool room and freezer, Bio-Rad needed an expert who understood controlled air and engineering services and was able to work creatively to meet these requirements.

An understanding of complex building services functionality was needed to create a space for Bio-Rad’s specific needs. They also required a contemporary, technologically enabled office, service centre and educational facility. The seamless collaboration of Amicus Group’s office fitout team, with our Laboratory and Technology arms, allowed us to provide a wholistic solution.

Solution

Amicus Labline was first brought into the project as a client-side Project Manager. From there, the relationship grew to working through the concept design, detailed design and construction phases.

The services and insulation of the air conditioned warehousing had to be closely managed to ensure a constant temperature of 22°C. To meet safety requirements, the fire services were brought below the insulated roof paneling. Inside the warehouse contains a large cool room and freezer which needed forklift accessibility designed. In the service centre, specialist furniture was created to form an efficient and organised workspace. Chemical-grade bench tops containing lighting and data cables free the space of unnecessary clutter. Suspended from the ceiling, a ‘service ring’ was installed to allow for larger equipment to be trolleyed in and connected, ensuring easy access to connection from any point in the room.

For the remaining office space, Amicus was able to design and construct the 1,200sqm of office which included a training space, VC enabled meeting rooms, focus zones, kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Benefit

Despite the impacts to labour shortage and delays of raw materials, the entire 3,780sqm facility was delivered in 6 months within programme. Bio-Rad now has a base which comfortably houses their systems and business operations while also allowing for future growth.
