Background

Diabetes Australia is a purpose-driven organisation committed to improving the lives of people affected by diabetes and supporting better health outcomes across the community. From the outset, we engaged closely with the Tenant Representative during the property due diligence phase, before partnering directly with Diabetes Australia once they selected the leafy precinct of Milton Green as their new home. With a strong focus on being thoughtful and considered with their investment, Diabetes Australia sought a workplace that would provide their people with an environment in which to thrive, without over-capitalising on their fitout and ensuring resources could continue to support the people and causes at the heart of their mission, particularly children. Partnering with Rizen Atelier, we worked exceptionally close with the CEO to translate their vision into a purposeful and welcoming workplace.

Solution

We delivered a considered workplace that balances functionality, quality and value, with every element designed to support Diabetes Australia’s people and purpose. Working closely with Rizen Atelier, we incorporated adaptive reuse alongside a series of flexible spaces designed around connection and collaboration. A generous kitchen and breakout space provides a central gathering point for staff and supports larger town hall events, while high-quality meeting rooms incorporate integrated AV and considered acoustic treatments to create spaces that support focused conversations, presentations and collaboration. Throughout the project, we maintained close communication with Diabetes Australia, Rizen Atelier, building management JLL and building owner Shayher, creating a collaborative process that delivered a quality outcome for all parties.

The relationship has continued well beyond handover, with Amicus supporting Diabetes Australia through initiatives including Pollie Pedal and the Gold Coast Marathon, thus demonstrating a true partnership grounded in shared values and a commitment to making a meaningful difference.

The resulting workplace is a warm, functional and purposeful environment that gives Diabetes Australia’s team the space to connect, collaborate and thrive. More than simply a new workplace, the project reflects Diabetes Australia’s considered approach to creating positive impact, therefore providing an environment that values its people while keeping its broader purpose firmly at the centre. Our ongoing partnership is a reflection of this shared commitment, extending beyond the built environment to support Diabetes Australia in the important work they do within the community.
