Working from a strong strategic foundation, we reimagined IRT's existing tenancy into a contemporary workplace that reflects the organisation's people, culture and future aspirations. Every design decision was informed by employee insights and workplace strategy, ensuring the environment supported both operational needs and the everyday employee experience.

Inspired by the Illawarra landscape, our Interior Commercial Design team used a design approach that balances the warm sandstone tones of the escarpment with the calming hues of the coastline, creating a natural and welcoming environment that feels deeply connected to place. The workplace has been carefully zoned to support different styles of work, with energetic collaborative spaces radiating from a central social hub into quieter library zones for focused work. A diverse mix of enclosed meeting rooms, acoustically treated focus spaces, modular workstations and informal touchdown areas provides employees with the flexibility to choose the setting that best supports their day.

At the heart of the workplace is a highly connected social and collaboration environment designed to bring people together. A 20-person Boardroom has been designed to seamlessly transform into a larger Town Hall space, which flows directly into the breakout and kitchen areas. This interconnected approach creates a flexible destination for everything from focused meetings and presentations through to team gatherings, events and informal connection, reinforcing a workplace that supports both productivity and culture.

Supporting the physical environment is an integrated technology platform designed around simplicity and reliability. Consistency across every meeting space allows employees to move seamlessly between rooms, while flexible presentation capabilities enable the workplace to support everything from everyday collaboration through to client events and larger team gatherings. By embedding technology into the workplace experience rather than treating it as a separate feature, the solution enhances the way people connect, communicate and work together. The intuitive user experience encourages adoption, enabling IRT’s people to confidently embrace new ways of working while supporting a future-ready workplace.

Recognising that a successful workplace transformation extends beyond the built environment, we partnered closely with IRT throughout the change management journey. By engaging employees early, communicating consistently and preparing teams for new ways of working, we supported a smooth transition that strengthened workplace adoption while reinforcing culture and connection.

Delivering a complex refurbishment within an occupied tenancy required careful planning, close collaboration and clear communication. Our integrated team worked alongside IRT to minimise disruption, manage project risks and deliver the transformation with confidence, quality and certainty from strategy through to completion.
