Tank Stream Labs

Background

Tanks Stream Labs was first launched in Sydney in 2012 as pioneers in the Australian coworking and entrepreneurial community. With the launch of the Sydney Start Up Hub in the historic Wynyard Green building on York Street, Tank Stream Labs appointed Amicus to manage all design and construction elements of the project, along with a symbolic and ground-breaking collaboration with TSL-success story, Airtasker.

Solution

Our collaboration with Airtasker to deliver this project was truly unique. Airtasker is a crowd-sourced platform created and launched at Tank Stream Labs, that enables individuals with a particular required ‘task’ to find another member of the community who are able (and where necessary, qualified) to perform that task. The inclusion of Airtasker in the project delivery was symbolic of the vision and ethos of the Tank Stream Labs community, and though a unique context for Amicus — a philosophy that is also aligned to our own focus on innovation, relationship, teamwork, and trust. The Airtasker community performed many of the front-of-house aspects of the project, including assembling furniture and moving in. The primary mandate for Amicus therefore was to oversee the project from a high level, and ensure all foundational infrastructure and technical services were modernised and brought to modern standards, and as with all Amicus projects, that tight control of both timeline, budget, and communication with the client exceeded expectations at every step of the journey.

Benefit

The finished project is a centrepiece of the Sydney Start Up Hub community, and symbolic of all Tank Stream Labs represents. Amicus was able to deliver complex technical service upgrades in a heritage space, and oversee the delivery a workspace designed from the inside out to inspire, equip and nurture young entrepreneurs of the future.
