TNS is one of the largest research agencies, with a worldwide presence in over 80 countries. Amicus’ experience in delivering TNS’ Sydney office in 2013 was a leading factor in our re-appointment to deliver their new Melbourne office fitout. Amicus were engaged early in the project to assist TNS with the selection and due diligence of prospective office locations.
The chosen location was the historical Rosella Factory in Cremorne Melbourne. The project not only involved an office fitout, but a considerable amount of base building refurbishment to transform the former mechanics garage into a commercial office space. With a detailed brief and vision from TNS, Amicus were able to provide a collaborative environment for staff and clients and to reflect the companies ethos of innovative thinking, research and positive relationships. This environment embraced the Activity Based Working model and building upon their experiences of ABW in the Sydney office, the Melbourne office project took the design to the next level. Much of the floorplate is dedicated to the open workplace environment, skirted by a boardroom and a suite of smaller meeting rooms. The café space is delineated both physically and acoustically from the office floor with a beautiful glass screen and serves as an interactive ‘town hall’ and function space for staff and clients.
New meets old beautifully within the fitout, as several original features of the building – concrete floors and recycled bricks – have become features themselves within the new design. The industrial aesthetic is warmed with the introduction of coloured fabrics and felted wool, reclaimed timber furniture, feature lighting pendants and a stunning green wall in the reception area.
