2021 Wrapped

2021 has definitely been a year to remember. We kept high our commitment to positively inspire as many people as possible and to our human-centred approach. At Amicus everything starts with the people we are designing with and ends with new solutions that are purpose-built to suit our clients' very own needs. Now more than ever we are dedicated to delivering projects involving the integration of our range of solutions through a seamless approach. From workplace strategy to design and construction, project management, technology implementation and financing options.

At Amicus, our team experienced one of the longest lockdowns in the world and didn’t have the chance to meet in the office, collaborate in person or simply hang out. Thankfully, Amicus’ highly flexible approach has allowed our teams to feel connected and continue to work remotely with minimum disruptions. Our personal experience and our knowledge in the field of hybrid working have enabled us to divulge insights regarding the modern working environment. We were able to use this data to develop recommendations to survive the new adjustment and prepare a space to be future-proof.

In 2021, Amicus launched a new solution, Amicus Finance. This new service has been shaped to give businesses the opportunity to obtain their workplace of the future accessing finance solutions tailored to their specific needs. An innovative solution that allows a business's brand new space vision to become reality. We also quietly launched the Amicus Leadership & Learning solution which we will introduce in the new year. These integrated solutions get us closer to our clients and enable our team to share expertise and positively influence their lives.

To wrap up a year to remember, here are a few highlights. From a selection of our top stories, project highlights to a projection of what 2022 will bring.
Workplace Strategist Lisa Justice on Successful Flexible Working
What happens if staff are reluctant to return to the office? In a traditional pre-pandemic workplace, the Facilities Manager and Human Resources rarely crossed paths.
Fast forward eighteen months, and the social shift to embrace a more flexible approach to where we work has been so
far-reaching. Many organisations are only now processing how this impacts their systems and workflow.
So how do we support flexibility in the workspace?
Q&A with our Workplace Strategist Sophie Fenton on Human Centred Design
It's an interesting time right now for the design and build of 'fit for purpose' environments. The pandemic has equally disrupted places of work and places.
For workplaces, the shift to remote work has completely thrown into question
the pre-COVID 'rules of thumb' on office space requirements. A similar journey is occurring for schools and universities.
We have explored the current challenges we're seeing in workplaces and places of learning.

The Post-Pandemic Workplace

The pandemic has dramatically disrupted how we work, forcing us to adapt and change our organisational culture. Determining the optimal office space, getting the team culture on track, and increasing employee engagement should be the main focus to kick-start 2022.

Our Head of Workplace Strategy Steve Collis and our Senior Workplace Strategist, Lisa Justice, have identified 3 steps to create a post-pandemic workplace plan and get teams back on track.

How to Create the Perfect Hybrid Meeting with Technology and Design
One of the biggest challenges is getting the hybrid meeting just right. As many organisations move quickly to embrace a new way of working which will involve a combination of people working from home and in the office. But what makes a great hybrid meeting experience? In our experience, there are 3 key elements to get right – the technology, the meeting room design, and the meeting protocols.
Post-pandemic Parallel Stories: Workplaces and Learning Environments
As 2021 comes to a close, both workplaces and places of learning are emerging from lockdowns. It’s a fair bet to say that both will remain changed forever. As educators and learners have adapted, the developments have close parallels with those of the world of work. Our workplace strategy team has examined the crucial parallels and identified the answers to the questions education and work environments are facing as the world adjusts the to the new normal.

How a Refreshed Workplace Can Benefit Your Business

The workplace environment plays a vital role in retaining employees. For this reason, reviewing and establishing clear objectives for your workplace and equipment should be part of your business strategy every year.

Our Amicus Finance Director, Mike Mobilia shares how a regular refresh of your workspace, especially the equipment your team needs and uses, can benefit your business, from better communication to improved performance and cost saving.

The team knew exactly how the project was tracking at any point in time. On many occasions, I have been provided with technical information and requirements. I am very appreciative of that and have learnt so much along the way. It’s been amazing working with you!
