Al-Faisal College approached Amicus with a vision to re-invigorate their existing library. They wanted a complete transformation that would inject colour, life, and create different learning spaces, making the library an oasis where students would be eager to engage.
The challenge was to work within a live school environment with limited access while adhering to a tight schedule and delivering a remarkable learning environment for years to come.
Our team at Amicus took up the challenge and devised a comprehensive plan to deliver the project successfully. We collaborated closely with the client, understanding their requirements and aspirations. The design brief aimed to create a versatile library space catering to students from Kindergarten to Year 12.
Our creative approach involved the strategic use of natural materials, thoughtful design, and vibrant colour schemes to uplift and inspire the students. We incorporated distinct zones, including a Story Time area for primary school students, separate study rooms with computer banks for older students, and three flexible teaching spaces divided by operable walls.
Our technology solution upgraded the library system to an automated RFID solution. This allowed books to be securely and easily returned at any time, enhancing the overall efficiency of the library.
We had the privilege of working with dedicated suppliers who crafted custom pieces with impeccable attention to detail. Working within the live school environment was expertly managed. Additionally, Lomac excelled in executing a complex floor design, laying multiple floor finishes and accommodating operable walls within the set timeframe.
Completed within programme, the revitalised library space now offers an inviting environment for students of all ages, encouraging them to explore and engage in their learning.
