Case Study

DuPont Australia

South Windsor, New South Wales
125 sqm

Background

DuPont Australia required a major refurbishment for their facility in South Windsor. The lab had been operational and untouched for 40 years and needed a full upgrade with a goal to increase the functionality of the labs. Knowing that a full upgrade was inevitable, the project budget was closely managed during the Concept Design phase and throughout.

Solution

The lab was completely gutted floor to ceiling to make way for new furniture and services for functional, aesthetic and compliance purposes.

To replace the old wooden workspaces, mobile joinery was made-to-order out of durable steel frames and benchtops. New water, power, data and compressed air services were installed and integrated into the joinery for a clear and tidy work surface.

The existing floorplan worked well for DuPont’s workflow, so the new furniture was installed in the same configuration while the parts of the lab which were no longer functional were upgraded to make best use of the space.

Benefit

To deliver this turn-key solution, Amicus worked closely with Dupont to ensure the design and solutions were in line with the company’s and Australia’s rigorous safety standards.

Despite the implications of the COVID pandemic and subsequent lockdowns and construction impacts, the project was delivered ahead of programme with some minor delays. Amicus provided a lab which improved DuPont’s floorspace functionality while bringing to the 21st century.
